An author and businesswoman, Baseerat Javed always had a passion for storytelling. When writing the “The Curse of the Cat’s Eye,” she drew inspiration from her lively childhood in India, bringing to life many of the stories and myths that she heard from her grandmother as a child.
All my life I have been telling stories and jotting them down in my many journals. I have about 12 nieces and nephews and I have created an individual story for each of them when they were 4 or 5 years old and gave it to them as a gift. Recently one of my nephews who is a doctor now found an old notebook of the story I had written 35 years ago for him and gave it back to me and asked me why I stopped writing and told me that I should get it published. I was surprised to see that he had saved the notebook for so long because they all know their stories which have been told and retold over and over again. Now that I have an empty nest I said why not. And here I am.
